General
+ There is rain forecasted/it rained last night/it's raining. Is the show still going to happen?
When possible, event cancellations will be made 24 hours prior to the show. Event cancellations will be posted on our facebook page. We know some exhibitors travel quite some distance to show with us, but please wait for us to officially announce cancellations before contacting us with questions. Our board of directors works hard to make the safest choice possible!
+ What type of horse shows do you offer?
- Traditional Open Shows: our traditional open shows offer a full showbill. Traditional show attire and tack/equipment are expected. Year-end points and payback are awarded for members of Salt Creek Wranglers.
- Casual Shows: these shows are for fun! Any form of safe attire and tack/equipment are allowed. No year-end points or payback are given out at these events.
- "Shorty" Shows: this type of show is used during the hottest parts of the summer. We use a shortened showbill and don't have railwork (pattern only) for horsemanship and equitation. This way, our exhibitors can still show, even when the Nebraska weather is extreme!
- Beat-the-Heat Shows: these shows are a type of "shorty" show. They start in the evening instead of the morning to avoid the hottest parts of the day! These shows are casual with no points awarded.
- 4-H Shows: youth ages 8 through 18 are permitted to show. Often times a 4-H show is paired with another type of open show. 4-H rules must be followed. Placings are awarded according to the 4-H rulebook (purple, blue, red, white ribbons). please review Lancaster County’s horse 4-H rulebook for 4-H specific questions.
+ Is Wranglers beginner friendly? Are these shows still competitive for experienced horses/riders?
Our shows are for EVERYONE! Salt Creek Wranglers is a welcoming environment for novice/beginner riders of any age. We are always happy to help our competitors learn and improve, even if they haven't been in the show pen before! On the flip side, we are proud to offer a diverse pool of experienced judges that challenge seasoned exhibitors and their horses as well! We have many exhibitors that also successfully show on other open and breed show circuits.
